About the project

KvarkenData has been delineated into three specialized work packages encompassing the creation of an environmental data portal, facilitation of Kvarken-region deal flow, and corporate engagement opportunities.

Utilization of Kvarken Data

  • T1.1: A study / report on the utilisation of Aurora Botnia’s data. The key parameters will be clarified together with the network of experts (FMI, SYKE, Aalto, Wärtsilä, Wasaline)
  • T1.2: Creation of a data portal by combining vessel data and other data in the area (e.g. satellite data)
  • T1.3: Research, experimentation and pilots of data-driven user interfaces
  • T1.4: Mapping, piloting, and testing of research models based on ship or environmental data to enable their effective use. In the research model selection, the research partner network is involved

New Collaboration Networks

  • T2.1: Building research networks in Finland and internationally
  • T2.2: Building business networks in the Vaasa and Umeå region, and more widely in Finland and Sweden. Through the network, the aim is to promote the utilisation of Kvarken data in areas such as transport, logistics, tourism, and nature values.

Knowledge Sharing and Communications

  • T3.1: Workshops for companies
  • T3.2: Internal communication; communicating information, results, and measures related to the project topics to the target group of the project
  • T3.3: External communication; communicating project results and activities through regional, professional, and research channels
